2018 Recap: Favorite Games of 2018

For the next week (as we finish out 2018) I wanted to do a short series of blog posts to share my favorite from this year. This includes:

  • My Favorite Mobile App Games
  • My Favorite Games Overall
  • My Favorite Gaming Blogs
  • My Favorite Movies
  • My Favorite Anime
  • My Favorite Graphic Novels / Comics / Manga

My Favorite Games from 2018

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

It should come to no surprise that my favorite game I purchased this year was World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. I had actually taken quite a long break from World of Warcraft. Especially after Warlords of Draenor and Legion just didn’t quite meet my expectations. However, returning back to the world of Azeroth has become one of my biggest highlights this year. Not only did I start playing one of my favorite games again but I also finally convinced my best friends to start playing. Now, they don’t play nearly as often as I do but I still really love that the option is there is we want to hang out and do something fun.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria – World of Warcraft is owned by Blizzard.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Diablo III is my husbands favorite game so when I discovered that the Reaper of Souls included a new character (the Necromancer) we just had to buy the upgrade. Which also resulted in us upgrading from the PS3 version to the PS4. Over the last month, we’ve played this game almost every night and are loving the subtle changes to the maps and the new loot options. In addition, I think the Necromancer is my new favorite class (however, Demon Hunters will remain in my heart forever).

Other Games

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Diablo and WoW are the only games I actually invested in this year (and are the only games I was committed to playing). There was a week or so this year where I went back to the PS3’s Little Big Planet 2 for an adventure but the rest of my year was focused back in Azeroth.

What games did you play this year and what games do you recommend I try for 2019? I’m wanting to get back into streaming on Twitch so I’d love some free/cheap Steam recommendations.

  1. I know how much time MMOs can take up, so I can understand why you haven’t invested much time into anything else. I’ve taken a small step back from my usual games this year and I plan to continue this throughout 2019 and get to work on my ridiculously huge backlog…

I’ve mainly been interested in visual novels this year with Hakuoki probably being the highlight, closely followed by Higurashi. Now is also a great time to pick up games on Steam as the Winter Sale just started!
